Reportedly, Google is planning to
work with device makers to create unlocked Nexus smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 (codenamed Jelly Bean) that it will sell directly to customers with no contracts, thereby bypassing wireless carriers. It’s believed the approach will result in the ability to get system-level Android updates to customers quicker, as well as sidestep carrier control to block apps and certain features.
