IOS 6 TO HIT APPLE DEVICES THIS FALL

Apple recently started showing off the improvements that will come to its iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch devices with iOS 6. The enhanced Maps app will feature spoken turn-byturn navigation, flyovers of cities, and more detailed maps. You’ll also be able to ask more of Siri. Facebook integration is deeper than
ever before; photo sharing is simpler; and the Face Time, Mail, and Safari apps have all received face lifts. Apple even added some improved accessibility features to iOS so users with vision or hearing impairments or other disabilities will be able to better interact with the iPad. The iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore have more functionality and better flow for multimedia searches and purchases

ANDROID 4.0 COMES TO THE SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE

It’s time for Samsung owners to rejoice, because Google recently released the Android 4.0 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) update for the Galaxy Note. With the update comes a host of new apps for consumers. The Premium Suite of apps built into the update unlocks a variety of new features designed specifically for the smartphone/tablet hybrid’s S Pen. One example is the S Note app, which features multiple templates, as well as the S Memo Widget. The update is a whopping 318MB, but it’s more than worth it for Galaxy Note owners who have been waiting months for Android 4.0.

ARM, AMD & INTEL PROCESSORS EXPECTED FOR WINDOWS 8 TABLETS

A recent media report claims that Microsoft will be releasing a variety of Win8 tablets that feature ARM, AMD, and Intel processors. The tablets are expected to feature extended battery life and 3G or 4G mobile networking capabilities. Many of the devices will also be laptop/tablet hybrids with full keyboards integrated
into their design. Multiple companies have announced they are working on Win8 tablets and many reports have pointed to a fall release.

APPLE’S NEWEST IPAD LOSES “WIFI + 4G” MONIKER

The third-generation iPad, released in March, was advertised as having 4G connection capabilities, using the phrase iPad “Wi-Fi + 4G” in its online store. But some international iPad owners say the claim of 4G connectivity for all is misleading because the device can only connect to 4G LTE networks in the U.S. In response to complaints from Australian and British users, Apple is offering refunds. To prevent future purchasing mistakes, Apple has changed the description in its online store to the more encompassing “Wi-Fi + Cellular.”
