BodyMedia claims clinical studies have shown that its Fit System, which includes an Armband monitor, online Activity Manager (requires a subscription), Display (optional), and free mobile apps can improve weight loss by up to three times. In addition to automatically tracking calories burned, the system provides food log and offers data on sleep patterns and activities.
The Armband comes in Core ($149), Advantage ($179), and Bluetooth-enabled Link ($199) models. The Armband uses four sensors to record data at 5,000 data points per minute, providing 90%-plus calorie accuracy, the company states.
