Put another way, the K 550 offers up reference-class headphones “ideal for private listening both at home and on the go” by striking a “masterful balance between the noise-isolating qualities of closed-back headphones and the spacious, dimensional sound of an open-back design.”
In addition to packing 50mm drivers into the earpads (the largest drivers in the company’s product line), the K 550 sports a new headphone design that includes a 2D-axis mechanism that enables folding the headphones flat. Weighing 10.8 ounces, the K 550 also includes a gold-plated jack situated at the end of a 99.99% oxygen-free cable.
